I absolutely LOVE the genius behind this freder. The 3 in 1 capabilities and large filling space had me so excited. The metal design was a BIG selling feature because with the wind we get and the naughty squirrel populous in my neighborhood; if its not sturdy it won't make it. The birds absolutely LOVE this feeder. Sparrows, finches, downy woodpeckers, jays, starlings, red bellied woodpeckers, titmice, chickadees, I fed them ALL with this one. AANNNDDD even the squirrels.. those determined little mischevious devils used the perch to climb and sit/hang/dangle from. They were able to resch and snag the suet balls from the cage as well as the peanuts. Both shelled and unshelled. They chewed up the plastic perch area to make a larger hole in the plastic tubing to access the seed. Then, they managed to knock the whole feeder out of the tree so when it hit the ground it damaged the tube feeder and broke it. The whole bottom of the tube cracked and warped on impact. The top knob and metal rod running through the center was also damaged. I tried to self repair it but unfortunately wasnt successful and I wasnt aware of the warrantee/guarantee so after only 1 week of enjoyment I have a damaged feeder that isnt usable and I'm sure is past its warrantee period at this point. I would say if you dont have a big squirrel risk and are able to really secure this so it wont fall then its a fantastic feeder. Much to my sadness and disappointment; I have expensive bird feeder parts instead.
